Courtesy of DC we were gifted with freebies for the Helmet gig. At the last minute we were bequeathed another double pass but dam if we could find two people who wanted to avail themselves of this opportunity. What the fuck? Free tix to see seminal 90′s band Helmet and peeps could not be bothered! Sigh and possibly groan, it’s Saturday night and it’s fucking free and it’s Helmet! Jesus wept and more besides! Speaking of helms, I must declare my love for the HBO series Game of Thrones. It has everything; swords, horses, iron thrones, castles, battles, an evil yet beautiful queen, be-heading, backstabbing, awesome costumes that remind me of Rick Owens, pet wolves, ravens, dragons, knights, hot men…..I could go on! The Game of Thrones has me in it’s thrall. In the meantime as I await Season 2 I am reading the George RR Martin series A Song of Ice and Fire which is the basis of the TV show. I am a third of the way through book 4 and have book 5 on pre-order. Turns out I like reading fantasy which came as quite a surprise as I was convinced this was not my thing given my penchant for hard SF. Generally I need FTL, space ships with minds and perhaps some mention of the singularity. Anyway let me finish with a further declaration of love this time for my Kindle. Kindle allows me to read 1000 page books whilst lying in bed without mishap! Seriously if you read plenty then get one, it’s most excellent and convenient.
You don’t need me to tell you that it’s the middle of the year but you might need me to remind you that the days will be getting longer after the 21st/22nd of June. Hoo-fucking-ray! I hate winter and I despise the lack of daylight winter brings. So ugly. This time of year makes me feel so very meh about everything and I find myself in the doldrums completely uninspired to write anything, hence the lack of blog updates. Plus I am extremely lazy. No kidding, I have decreed my epitaph must read ‘I so can’t be bothered’. But I digress for this post is to be about nail polish! Yes that’s right biatches, nail polish!
Try not to focus on the hideousness that is my hand, I know it’s hard but just don’t. Instead look at that gorgeous colour on my nails. It’s called Bruised by Rescue Beauty Lounge. Is it not divine? A plummy, browny, winey creme. I also purchased Recherche and Iconoclast.
Returning to the original premise of this post, I wish that I could be a prolific blogger much like the most excellent blogger and jewellery designer Wendy Brandes. That ring on my unattractive paw is one her designs namely the Diana ring. I am thinking that I would like this one next Evelina. Seriously go read this woman’s beautifully written, witty blog and maybe buy some trinkets. BTW I now realise how fucking difficult it is to photograph nail polish and hands. Kudos to my favourite nail polish blogger All Lacquered Up (yes I have one, do not snigger) who always makes it look easy with her attractive hands. Of course I am reminded of one of my most loved Seinfeld moments, behold George Costanza hand model.
