This gorgeous frock appeals to me because I  could portray an ethereal writer of pony books whilst wafting about thusly clad. Is it too reminiscent of lingerie? Also is that a bad thing?

I have a problem with pendant necklace type arrangements for reasons that are unclear, however this  looks like one that I could wear without feeling suburban.

Now this little, black frock (with navy accents, so it’s not really black) would be such a work-horse come summer. A must have piece, yes? And look, it’s Miu Miu! A theme emerges.

Finally I LOVE these Miu Miu boots and they are not on sale as in discount or otherwise as they are pre-order for the Northern hemispherical winter. Not much change from 1000 bucks I’m afraid.I shouldn’t have included them here but must needs be my next winter purchase. Dream on.

Mayhaps I should explain my dour mood. After months of really crap things happening in my little universe,  I am exhausted and somewhat deflated. As you get older, the chances of  bad things happening are increased given you have had more time in which these things can occur. The confounder of course is winter. It colors everything grey.

Speaking of helms, I must declare my love for the HBO series Game of Thrones. It has everything; swords, horses, iron thrones, castles, battles, an evil yet beautiful queen, be-heading, backstabbing, awesome costumes that remind me of Rick Owens, pet wolves, ravens, dragons, knights, hot men…..I could go on! The Game of Thrones has me in it’s thrall. In the meantime as I await Season 2 I am reading the George RR Martin series  A Song of Ice and Fire which is the basis of the TV show. I am a third of the way through book 4 and have book 5 on pre-order. Turns out I like reading fantasy which came as quite a surprise as I was convinced this was not my thing given my penchant for hard SF. Generally I need FTL, space ships with minds and perhaps some mention of the singularity. Anyway let me finish with a further declaration of love this time for my Kindle. Kindle allows me to read 1000 page books whilst lying in bed without mishap! Seriously if you read plenty then get one, it’s most excellent and convenient.

Try not to focus on the hideousness that is my hand, I know it’s hard but just don’t. Instead look at that gorgeous colour on my nails. It’s called Bruised by Rescue Beauty Lounge. Is it not divine? A plummy, browny, winey creme. I also purchased Recherche and Iconoclast.

Returning to the original premise of this post, I wish that I could be a prolific blogger much like the most excellent blogger and jewellery designer Wendy Brandes. That ring on my unattractive paw is one her designs namely the Diana ring. I am thinking that I would like this one next Evelina. Seriously go read this woman’s beautifully written, witty blog and maybe buy some trinkets. BTW I now realise how fucking difficult it is to photograph nail polish and hands. Kudos to my favourite nail polish blogger All Lacquered Up (yes I have one, do not snigger) who always makes it look easy with her attractive hands. Of course I am reminded of one of my most loved Seinfeld moments, behold George Costanza hand model.

A little bit of glitter and sparkle has gone.

Last year when I actually believed that I was a contender and hence cared rather a lot, the above statement caused me to raise my eyebrow. I was too stressed in my attempt to write the finest ever application, to absorb the full magnificence of this bold request. Fast forward one year coupled with failing in my bid to gain government funds for a post-doctoral fellowship and the realisation that more than 70% of applications are unsuccessful, I no longer give a fuck and subsequently find this statement absolutely fucking hilarious. I simply cannot take this seriously. I vacillate between thinking that some government dude has a sense of humour (entirely impossible) and the realisation that I am not the sort of person who shifts scientific paradigms. If this is the criterion for obtaining a fellowship then I am never going to get one. Which leads me to the question of why am I bothering to apply again? Unfortunately it comes with the territory. I so can’t be bothered. Really I am only interested in clothes, shoes and make-up. Sigh.
